Check out some of the latest releases on Blu-Ray, might be time for you to invest in a Blu-ray player or even a new 3D TV?

At the moment there are some great new releases either out on Blu-ray DVD or due to be released very soon so thought we’d give you the lowdown on some of them as there is something to appeal to everyone, even the for the children too with the release of The Little Mermaid (You can still buy it though even if you haven’t got kids!)

Star Trek Into The Darkness: released 2nd September 2013 in both Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray formats.
The year's best-rated blockbuster is nothing short of "spectacular" (Empire). When a ruthless mastermind known as Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch) declares a one-man war on the Federation, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), and the daring crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise set out on their most explosive manhunt of all time. It will take everything in their arsenal to defend Earth and eliminate Khan's deadly threat in J.J. Abrams' "exhilarating belter of a blockbuster" (The Sun).

Iron Man 3: Being released 9th September 2013 in both Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray formats.
Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: Does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Fast And Furious 6: Being released 9th September 2013
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of all-stars as the global blockbuster franchise built on speed races to its next continent in Fast & Furious 6. Reuniting for their most high-stakes adventure yet, fan favourites Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Elsa Pataky are joined by badass series newcomers Luke Evans and Gina Carano.

Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian's (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin's empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.
Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.

Olympus Has Fallen: Released 26th August 2013
When a group of heavily armed and meticulously trained extremists launch a daring daylight ambush on the White House, the President (Aaron Eckhart, The Dark Knight) and his staff are taken hostage inside an impenetrable underground bunker.
 But as the Oval office and its environs sustain an aerial and ground attack, a disgraced former U.S. Secret Service agent, Mike Banning (Gerard Butler,300), finds his way into the besieged building to do the job he has trained for all his life: to protect the president - at all costs.
 With tension rising, the Acting President (Morgan Freeman, The Dark Knight Rises) and US national security team must rely on Banning to rescue the President before the terrorists can unleash their ultimate, terrifying plan.

The Little Mermaid: Released 2nd September 2013
Ariel, the fun-loving and mischievous mermaid, is enchanted with all things human. Disregarding her father's order to stay away from the world above the sea, she swims to the surface and, in a raging storm, rescues the prince of her dreams. Determined to be human, she strikes a bargain with the devious sea witch, Ursula, and trades her fins and beautiful voice for legs. With her best friend, the adorable and chatty Flounder, and her reluctant chaperone Sebastian, the hilarious, reggae-singing Caribbean crab, at her side, Ariel must win the prince's love and save her father's kingdom -- all in a heart-pounding race against time!

So now you can see that there are some stunning films to be watched on Blu-ray you might be thinking that this really doesn’t apply to me as I don’t even have a Blu-ray DVD player or maybe you have one but don’t have a 3D TV to watch the 3D Blu-ray movies? If the answer to either of these is yes then don’t panic!

There are some truly amazing Blu-ray and 3D players out there on the market at the moment from the likes of Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Onkyo, Toshiba and others too so you can have a look at our range here. Or if you have a 3D Blu-ray player but haven’t invested yet in a 3D TV then there isn’t a better time than to think about getting one and bring the cinema to your home and save yourself some money in the process as going to the cinema nowadays can be an expensive experience! So get yourself a 3D TV and you can have stunningly brilliant and jaw dropping picture reproduction from the comfort of your own home. You might just have to wait a little while for movies to be released on Blu-ray but it certainly is worth the wait.
